“Rodding for Reading 8”The story behind the unique work of art
Rodding for Reading 8 – Original work by Dan “Danno” Drouin – copyright of the artist, all rights reserved
If you’ve ever come out to Rodding for Reading, odds are good you were drawn to one of the exhibitors. Danno’s Black Heart Designs is a long-time, eye-catching presence at Rodding. Black Heart’s owner-artist Dan “Danno” Drouin is a friend of the Lead Kings and always on hand to offer professional advice and services on pinstriping, lettering and graphic design – techniques to customize any vehicle but also artistic skills that Danno uses to create one-of-a-kind logos, signs, murals and fine art.
Danno regularly donates a unique hand-painted metal art piece for Rodding’s auction. This year’s Rodding for Reading 8, pictured here, marks the 8th year of the show organized and supported by the Lead Kings car club. These fine art pieces are in part a tribute to the artist’s father and his determination to learn how to read so that he could in turn read to Danno’s daughter when she was a little girl. Danno’s pride in his dad is strong and touching…just like his art.

A different kind of ride than Danno usually works on but one that showcases his artistic skills and loving attention to detail on another truly unique project.
