
Group Facilitators Needed
Thank you for your interest in becoming a Modular Group Tutor, Independent Learning Group Tutor, Classroom Assistant, or Small Group Facilitator. Working within a classroom can be a very rewarding experience. It can give you the opportunity to make a real difference in a people’s lives, and enrich your own. We will provide you with training, curriculum, resources and on-going support while you are either supporting an instructor or running a small group.
Training
Tutor applicants will participate in a 10-hour online training workshop. After the training each tutor will complete a minimum of 4 hours of mentoring with either the class or curriculum. Every tutor has the option to complete the in class training to become a Laubach certified tutor.
Time and commitment
To be a Classroom Assistant, we ask for 6 months minimum commitment.The Core Group Facilitator role requires anything from 6 weeks to 1 year. Modular Group Tutors can commit to 8-week sessions throughout the year.
Here are the steps you will take to become an Adult Literacy Tutor:
- Download, print and complete the application form.
- Send the form to our Outreach Coordinator, Marilena Benak.
- Meet with a Program Coordinator so we can tell you more about the position and you can get all the information you need.
- Complete the training.
- Be matched with your student and start.
All volunteers must be willing to complete our application and volunteer screening process which includes a Vulnerable Sector Police Records check.
